REWRITES 2024
In March 2024, David and Fraser presented new songs from Coming Back Around at REWRITES. Initiated by The Lowry in Manchester, REWRITES is a platform for musicals to showcase new material across the UK. Alumni of REWRITES include Splitlip’s Operation Mincemeat and Finn Anderson’s A Mother’s Song.
Coming Back Around shared the below songs at both The Lowry and MAST Mayflower Studios in Southampton.
Coming Back Around: A musical for our times
And times are hard. Sky lives in Glasgow with her boyfriend Declan. They are in love and are they are skint. Job interviews, energy bills, and Declan's best friend who won't move out. Coming Back Around is Sky's story; the one written for her and the one she wants to tell.
Coming Back Around is a new musical David is writing with Fraser Scott. The show had its first outing at BEAM Festival 2023 at Oxford Playhouse. The show was then selected to appear as a curtain raiser at both The Lowry in Manchester and MAST Mayflower Studios in Southampton in March 2024.
The show is currently written for a cast of five, with a score that steals sounds from the worlds of electronic and classical music.
